What Full Truckload means for your business

Full Truckload (FTL) is a shipping mode where a single customer reserves the entire trailer for one shipment, from origin to destination. Because there are no transfers between terminals and no other freight sharing the trailer, FTL is the fastest, most secure way to move a large shipment by road.

OLO's FTL service is built for shippers who can fill a 53-foot dry van, who are moving high-value or time-sensitive freight, or who simply do not want their product handled multiple times in transit. From manufacturers and distributors to retailers and 3PLs, our customers rely on FTL when the cost of a late or damaged load is greater than the cost of a dedicated truck.

When to choose FTL over LTL

If your shipment is more than 10 pallets, weighs over 15,000 lbs, or is fragile, high-value, or under tight delivery windows, FTL is almost always the better choice. With FTL you pay for the truck, not by weight or class, so the per-unit cost drops sharply once your shipment fills enough trailer space.

Your freight is also touched exactly twice — once at pickup, once at delivery — which dramatically reduces the risk of damage, loss, and claim disputes compared to LTL or parcel networks.

Why shippers choose OLO for FTL

  1. 01
    Single-touch handling

Your freight is loaded once and unloaded once. No cross-docks, no terminal transfers, no extra opportunities for damage or loss.

  2. 02
    Locked-in transit times

We commit to pickup and delivery appointments and back them with proactive driver check-calls and 24/7 dispatch support.

  3. 03

One flat rate covers fuel, mileage, and standard accessorials. No surprise reclassifications or density adjustments after pickup.

  4. 04
    Capacity when the market tightens

Dedicated and contract lanes mean your freight keeps moving during produce season, holiday peaks, and weather disruptions.

  5. 05
    Real-time visibility

GPS tracking, ELD integration, and EDI/API tendering keep your TMS and your customers in sync from dispatch to POD.
